“Think It, Build It, Fix It”

“Think It, Build It, Fix It”
To culminate our Inquiry Learning unit, Grade 1C made paper aeroplanes. We enjoyed making them. The grade then took them outside, had a practise run at flying them and then we competed against one another. Cooper was the champion of the boys and Stephanie was the girl champ. Overall, Cooper won. His plane was amazing. It just flew and flew and flew. Congratulations Cooper!

Why is ICT important?

Why is ICT important?

Contemporary research has shown that ICT can lead to improved student learning and better teaching methods. A report made by the National Institute of Multimedia Education in Japan, acknowledged that an increase in student exposure to educational ICT through curriculum integration has a significant and positive impact on student achievement, especially in terms of “KnowledgeComprehension” · “Practical skill” and “Presentation skill” in subject areas such as mathematics, science, and social studies. “Think It, Build It, Fix It”

For our new Inquiry Learning unit “Think It, Build It, Fix It” the Grades 1 and 2 attended the Lego Education Centre in Melbourne. The students had the opportunity to learn about gears, levers and pulleys and incorporate these into their building of items such as a pirate ship and roller coaster. They also had a chance to creatively construct things such as playgrounds, space and moveable transport. It was heaps of fun and we all had a great day.

“Then and Now”

We have had a fun Term with our Inquiry Learning unit ‘Now’ and ‘Then’ where the children learnt about varying aspects of life in their grandparents or great grandparent’s time and comparing it to life today. The Unit culminated on Monday with ‘Grandparents or Special Person’s Day’ where many of the children’s Grandparents came to watch the children participate in Games of the past. Some of the grandparents even had a go! It brought back happy memories.
